One of the services we provide is home, apartment, & construction cleaning. I picked this tip up because I have a client who has allergies and experiences discomfort in the presence of the odors and vapors created by most popular spray cleaners.
Vinegar is an excellent cleaning solvent that is inexpensive and can be used on a wide variety of surfaces. Because it is a mild organic acid, it is excellent at removing fingerprints and oils and leaves virtually no residue on glass and chromed surfaces. The vapor isn't harmful and to my experience doesn't trigger allergies. Additionally, if a mild abrasive is needed, a light dusting of the surface with baking soda before using a vinegar-dampened cloth cleans very well with foaming action and the only vapor produced is a minor amount of carbon dioxide.
